According to the latest reports from media outlets such as The Times of Israel and Fox News, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) claimed responsibility on the 20th for the rockets fired at Tel Aviv, Israel that day. Fox News reported that this seems to be the first attack by Hamas since the ceasefire agreement broke down, in response to Israel's resumption of military operations in the Gaza Strip. The Times of Israel reported that the Hamas affiliated armed faction, the Kassan Brigade, stated in a statement that they used M90 rockets to bomb Tel Aviv in response to the "Zionist massacre of civilians".
According to Reuters, the Israeli military has confirmed that three rockets entered Israeli territory from southern Gaza, with one successfully intercepted by the Israeli Air Force and the other two landing in an open area.
The fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas broke down early Tuesday morning after lasting for about two months. The Israeli Defense Forces launched a large-scale airstrike on the Gaza Strip in the early hours of the 18th local time, resulting in over 400 deaths. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the airstrike was launched due to the repeated refusal of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to release Israeli detainees. Defense Minister Katz warned that if Hamas does not release people again, "our strikes will intensify". Hamas stated that Israel's move is a unilateral end to the ceasefire, leaving Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip facing an unknown fate. The new Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have attracted widespread attention from the international community. France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran and other countries have condemned this and called for an immediate ceasefire.
