On March 14th local time, the Prime Minister of the Greenland Autonomous Government in the Danish Autonomous Territory, Mutt Egd, made it clear on social media that Greenland will never become a US territory.
Egde stressed that "our country will never become the United States, and we Greenlanders will never become Americans. We will not accept the behavior of the American leaders, and all parties will unite against the unacceptable behavior of the American leaders. All parties will unite to work hard for our country."
Greenland, as an autonomous territory of Denmark and also the largest island in the world, has recently attracted widespread attention and uproar from the international community due to US President Trump's repeated claims of intention to incorporate it into the United States. Greenland has a unique geopolitical location and has always been regarded by the United States as a key point for security defense. In recent years, the United States has continuously increased its investment in military bases in Greenland, attempting to enhance its military deterrence in the Arctic region.
